The Sentinel

A decidedly old-fashioned thriller, 'The Sentinel' is smart, but fails to really deliver on thrills...
Michael Douglas is aging Secret Service Agent Pete Garrison who is well respected, largely because he took a bullet during the attempted assassination of President Regan. However, although he's still on Presidential guard duty, he's now having a fling with the current President's wife (Kim Basinger). When a plot to assassinate the President is revealed to lead back to a White House mole, Garrison becomes the main suspect and his former friend David Breckinridge sets out to investigate...
On paper at least, 'The Sentinel' looks like it should be a smarter-than-average thriller, but the reality is a pastiche of 'In The Line Of Fire' and 'The Fugitive', which hugely lets down its quality cast...
'The Sentinel' is due to be released on DVD on January 29.
