Awards Keep Coming For The Quiet Man
Derry-based company Niche Drinks are having to buy a bigger trophy cabinet to store the awards that keep coming for their blended and 8 Year Old Single Malt whiskies in The Quiet Man range.
Hot on the foot of winning Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Awards in April for both The Quiet Man Superior Blend and The Quiet Man 8 Year Old Single Malt, The Quiet Man Single Malt won "Dram of the Show" at the Whiskey Lounge Shows in London, Newcastle, Liverpool and Edinburgh.
At these whiskey connoisseur shows, the attendees vote for their favourite whiskey, so for The Quiet Man Irish Whiskey to be repeatedly voted "whiskey of the show," and in particular in Edinburgh, the home of all those great Scottish Malt whiskies, is a big thing in the industry!

And now The Quiet Man has picked up Silver Awards for both its Superior Blend and its 8 Year Old Single Malt at the industry-leading International Wines & Spirit Competition awards.
Ciaran Mulgrew, Managing Director of Niche Drinks, was delighted with the awards, "It's fantastic to win anything at the IWSC competition, so for both The Quiet Man whiskeys, the Traditional Blend and the 8 Year Old Single Malt, to win is a tremendous boost for us and helps confirm that The Quiet Man is a top quality whiskey."
The Quiet Man is named after Ciaran's father, John Mulgrew, who was a barman in Belfast for over 50 years. "He used to say that in a lifetime working behind the bar he had heard every story there was to hear and seen everything there was to see in life, the good and the bad. But he kept it all to himself and told no tales and they called him The Quiet Man, and that is where the name of the whiskey comes from."

The Quiet Man is the first whiskey to be bottled in Derry in almost a century, and Niche Drinks have applied for planning permission to house the brand in a brand new distillery and visitor centre in Ebrington Square in the city centre. The development will be one of the most striking urban distilleries in the world and will be open for visitors in 2018.
