Titanic The Musical

Type : Theatre

In the final hours of 14th April 1912 the RMS Titanic, on her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York, collided with an iceberg and ‘the unsinkable ship’ slowly sank. It was one of the most tragic disasters of the 20th Century, in which 1517 men, women and children lost their lives.

Now, more than 100 years later, Belfast Operatic Company bring you the show they said couldn’t be done. How can you sing and dance about such a tragedy?

Maury Yeston and Peter Stones’ Broadway production of Titanic The Musical did just that, winning 5 Tony Awards (Including Best Musical, Book and Score) as Titanic finally arrived in New York. It was a similar tale in the Grand Opera House in 2005 when the Belfast Operatic Company staged the Irish Premiere of the show, sweeping the boards at the Association of Irish Musical Societies annual ceremony, and thrilling audiences and critics alike – a success they repeated in 2012 for the centenary of the ship’s sinking at a very special gala performance. It is with great delight that this year they will be bringing the show home to the Titanic Quarter, just a stone’s throw away from where the ship was built and launched.

Based on real people aboard the most legendary ship in the world, Titanic The Musical is a stunning and stirring production focusing on the hopes, dreams and aspirations of her passengers who each boarded with stories and personal ambitions of their own.
