Gráinne Duffy

Type : Gigs

is December, we are thrilled to welcome to the stage the incredible Grainne Duffy.

Grainne Duffy is an artist whose music comprises a melodic mix of blues, soul and Americana influences. Having grown up in a large family in rural Ireland, having nothing much to do except expose herself to a wealth of music from country to rock, jazz to soul and rock and of course blues music, her early musical education was earned playing the local circuit alongside her sisters in their family musical union.

Her most recent release, the highly anticipated third album “Where I Belong” merges unites beautifully melodic a slice of Memphis Motown via her native County Monaghan country soul roots.

Described by The Sunday Times as ‘a blues singer of real integrity’, Duffy is a pioneer of her own style while also paying sincere homage to her roots, soul, blues and rock traditions.

Duffy’s debut album “Out Of The Dark” saw her perform for all 3 days on iconic Acoustic Stage at Glastonbury Festival, 2008.

During 2015 she was awarded as winner in the Blues Matters Writers Poll in two categories; “best female vocalist” and “best artist” in the UK.

With a voice that is as passionate as it is raw and honest, accompanied by simple, melodic and well phrased guitar lines, this is what you have in Grainne Duffy. Having collaborated with Niko Bolas (Los Lobos & Keith Richards), 2017 sees her back in the US recording with the producer

Justin Stanley (Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Sheryl Crow). The result is release of her eagerly awaited third album “Where I Belong” (2017) to follow the success of her debut roots album and her second album ‘Test Of Time’ which weaved together her contemporary influences with her blues and soul roots.

Last year “Spotify” includes Grainne Duffy in “Top 50 Women Honouring Blues” list.
