Angela’s Ashes

Type : Theatre

This major musical adaptation of Frank McCourt’s worldwide best-selling memoir is an uplifting story of hope, fortitude and family.

Following the run of this World Premiere production at the Grand Opera House in 2017, Howell and Hurt’s musical returns to Belfast by popular demand. The Pulitzer Prize winning book comes to life on stage with unforgettable songs and melodies in this emotional and poignant retelling of a childhood in Limerick – told with a rare lyricism and a warm inimitable sense of humour.

Hidden in the notorious lanes of Limerick, Frank’s parents struggle to provide for him and his brothers. Follow one young man’s escapades as he negotiates a drunken father, a helpless mother, pompous priests, bullying schoolmasters, money-lenders and dancing-teachers – culminating in a defiant escape to a new life in America.

With superb performances and a haunting score, Angela’s Ashes will bring you to tears one minute, and have you laughing out loud the next.
