Foyle Film Festival

Type : Festivals

Foyle Film Festival is Northern Ireland’s only Oscar® affiliated festival and one of the most significant and popular events in Derry~Londonderry’s annual cultural calendar.

Each year, the festival brings the best of local, national and international cinema to Derry~Londonderry for ten days, attracting filmmakers and high profile guests.

Led by the Nerve Centre, festival ambassadors and previous guests include Oscar®-winning directors Danny Boyle, Terry George, Andrea Arnold, and Oscar® nominated Hollywood directors Jim Sheridan and Paul Greengrass, and actors Brendan Gleeson, Ray Winstone and Richard E Grant. This year’s Festival will be no different.

Its specially curated programme fuses the best of new local cinema, work from independent filmmakers from across the world, and award-winning films from the international festival circuit.

The festival offers filmmakers, animators and artists a unique platform to screen their films, network with industry professionals and gain access to the international market, and is one of only a handful of international film festivals with Oscar affiliation and BAFTA recognition.

In addition, the Festival offers a stand-alone education program targeting schools and colleges with a series of curriculum-based feature films, documentaries, workshops, presentations, and outreach screenings. The education programme offers additional outreach events at colleges and other arts centres, including the Regional Cultural Centre in Letterkenny.

Foyle Film Festival is managed by Nerve Centre and funded by Department for Communities through Northern Ireland Screen and by Derry City and Strabane District Council. Venue partner is Brunswick Moviebowl
