DICKENS AT CHRISTMAS – Story, Song, Celebration

Type : Theatre

Join us in Lisburn to celebrate a Dickensian Christmas in true Victorian style with world–renowned expert Dr Leon Litvack.

This lively audio–visual event will include readings from Dickens’s A Christmas Carol, musical extracts from Victorian Christmas tunes, and will consider the author’s attitudes towards and celebration of Christmas, and the wider Victorian traditions round the Yuletide season. A question and answer session will follow.

Leon Litvack is Professor of Victorian Studies at Queen’s University, and Principal Editor of the Charles Dickens Letters Project. He has written and lectured widely on the life and work of the author, and is currently working on a new book entitled Reading Dickens Differently, and on the authoritative Oxford edition of Dickens’s last novel, Our Mutual Friend.
