THE MERRY WIDOW

Type : Theatre

Franz Lehár’s sparkling comedic operetta The Merry Widow has enjoyed uninterrupted international success since its premier in Vienna in 1905. Lehár’s famous melodies, including Vilja, the Merry Widow Waltz, and the fabulous Can-can, bring vividly to life the glamour of Parisian high society at the turn of the 20th century.

Foyle Opera’s new production of this most popular of operettas, with an international team led by artistic director Irish soprano Ann Jennings, will feature the orchestra of Foyle Opera under the baton of French conductor Franck Chastrusse Colombier, and the chorus and dancers of Foyle Opera under the direction of Paris-based director-choreographer Jochen Sautter.
