Nest Fest At Springhill

As part of National Nest Box Week, you are invited to find out more about the lives of our feathered friends who make their home at Springhill; Nest Fest takes place at Springhill on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 February, 11am – 5pm.

On Saturday and Sunday bird enthusiasts can pick up tips from our Estate Team and volunteers. They will be busy taking down last year's nest boxes to reveal what has been nesting in them, clean, repair and re-erect them ready for birds that are beginning to pair up and look for a place to nest this season. Visitors will get the chance to see the different nests built by robins, blue tits, blackbirds and thrushes.

Children can enjoy making natural bird feeders and snacks to take home, plus craft activities to make and do. Explore the beautiful Springhill estate on the fascinating nest spotters trail, collecting nest materials as you go to help us build a giant bird's nest in the natural play area. Little ones can snuggle up in our cosy nest corner for story time with our wise owl.

Enjoy a hot bowl of soup and a tasty seasonal treat in The Barn Cafe and browse the hundreds of second-hand books in our Well-Read Bookshop.  Pick up your very own hand crafted bird box lovingly created by the Estate and Volunteer Team at Springhill. Children can explore Springhill's natural play area and families can enjoy a rejuvenating walk around the wonderful displays of snowdrops that are in full bloom at this time of year.

Springhill is just 10 minutes from Cookstown so why not take the family out for something different this mid-term break.

Nest Fest will take place at Springhill, Moneymore on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 February, 11am-5pm.
