Grainne Duffy is a guitar player, singer and songwriter from Ireland. She has an understanding of the blues and she also brings a big deal of soul to her music. Her voice and playing are inspired by the wellsprings of Memphis and Chicago, but Grainne also reflects to rich varieties of the Celtic experience. All of this was revealed in her remarkable first album Out of the Dark – proof of talent that was rising at an impressive rate.

Raised in a family of seven in Castleblayney, Grainne sang with her sisters in the choir before they broadcast their interests into the likes of Aretha Franklin, The Pretenders and Rolling Stones. Around that time Grainne discovered Fleetwood Mac and the blues playing of Peter Green, studied the blues power of the three Kings – BB, Albert and Freddie.

Her debut album Out of the Dark (2007) led Grainne to the stage of Glastonbury Festival (UK). Her 2nd album Test of Time (2011) is highly appreciated by both blues lovers and critics. Grainne starts to play at the festival circuit in UK. Her exceptional voice, guitar playing and famous emanation on the stage are very impressive for the audience and during 2013 Grainne’s reputation increases across Europe. During 2014 Grainne plays two of the finest festivals in Europe – Notodden (Norway) and Blues Balls (Switzerland).

Her high class has been well noted in Canada and during 2015 Grainne has her ever 1st tour there playing at such leading festivals as Lighthouse Blues in Ontario State and Tremblant Int’l Blues Fest in Quebec.
