Father John Misty, aka Josh Tillman, last came to Belfast in 2011 when he played Open House Festival as a member of Fleet Foxes. Now he's returning as a hugely successful solo artist, whose recently released second album I Love You, Honeybear will surely be one of this year's stand-out albums.
“a hugely ambitious, caustically funny album about the redemptive possibilities of love, and being heartily sick of your own bullshit.” NME 9/10
“For its black lyrical humour alone, I Love You, Honeybear would be a winner. The fact that it's matched to towering songwriting makes it masterful stuff.” Q Magazine****
“bristles with richness and bespoke detail.” – UNCUT ****
Father John Misty AKA former Fleet Foxes drummer Josh Tillman preceded the album release with a number of unusual and brilliant live appearances including a show-stopping performance of “Bored in the USA” on David Letterman’s Late Show with full-monty strings and an impromptu stripped-down karaoke performance for the employees of Spotify’s New York office.
