KATHLEEN TURNER

Type : Gigs

A stunning debut… Kathleen doesn’t look like she needs to trade under the family name to make it.”

Folk and Tumble

Kathleen Turner is swiftly gaining a reputation as one to watch on the Irish music scene. Steadily, her music is gaining ground, with a recent appearance supporting Declan O’Rourke, tracks featured on RTE Radio and Radio Ulster and a special appearance on RTE One’s Culture Night coverage with EP track, ‘Sweet Talker.’ She featured in a special series of Irish Times podcast ‘Roisin Meets’ which also included Brian Kennedy and John Spillane. Kathleen recently appeared on Irish TV’s ‘The Acoustic Yard’ and is an ‘Expert Pick’ on this year’s first Guinness Amplify. She made her first Dublin appearance in February performing at the Ruby Sessions.

The singer songwriter fuses sounds of folk and soul, with lyrics that are incisive, simple and honest and melodies that stay with you. She didn’t have far to go to learn her trade, with award winning sister Juliet Turner setting the standard.

Kathleen is from Tyrone, Northern Ireland but now calls Limerick home. Fresh from its year as City of Culture, Kathleen is one of many artists and musicians thriving in a place that celebrates creativity and supports exciting collaborations. The sounds that come naturally to her are influenced by Kathleen’s adopted city, from her time spent teaching and learning with the Irish Chamber Orchestra and the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance.

2015 sees a new beginning for Kathleen, with her first EP under her wing, gigs throughout Ireland and a new album in the works.
