LINLEY HAMILTON QUINTET

Musician, broadcaster and educator, Linley Hamilton has been at the forefront of the Irish music scene for over twenty years. His career has seen performances with names such as Van Morrison, Foy Vance, Paul Brady and Snow Patrol to name but a few.

Now in their fourth year, the Linley Hamilton Quintet are regulars on the Irish and UK festival scene, establishing themselves as one of Ireland’s finest small jazz ensembles. The Quintet features Dominic Mullan (Drums), Damian Evans (Bass), Johnny Taylor (Piano) and Julien Colarossi (Guitar).

Their first album, ‘Taylor Made’ was released in 2011 to critical acclaim with local and national radio play and a live broadcast on BBC Radio 3 Jazz Line-Up. The album comprised jazz originals and rarely heard standards as well as specifically arranged versions of tunes from the New American Songbook by the likes of Paul Simon and Carol King.

The band recently recorded their brand new album ‘In Transition’ and features original compositions by Linley and Johnny as well as reworking’s of compositions by Abdullah Ibrahim and Paul Williamson. The sound is more contemporary and homogeneous than previous releases, and live performances are energy filled and extremely exciting, interspersed with Linley’s own brand of audience interplay.

“Hamilton, without a doubt, has assembled one of Ireland’s finest small jazz ensembles”

- Ian Patterson, All About Jazz

“Hamilton is one of the best trumpeters on the local scene, with a fluent, mobile style and a lyrical imagination.”
