ROBB MURPHY

Type : Gigs

Robb Murphy, one of Belfast’s finest singer-songwriters, is set to release his second album, Sleep Tonight in February 2015. The twelve new studio recordings follow his debut album Take A Stand, which earned the creative, independent singer-songwriter international press praise since its release in 2012.

Robb Murphy, who lives in Belfast, Northern Ireland, has just put the final touches to Sleep Tonight, and is now preparing for its release building upon his fan base to get his music heard by more people than ever.

The album, Sleep Tonight, consists of twelve original songs from Robb, each providing a combination of his striking acoustics and heartfelt lyrics. The music supports the natural ‘real’ sound created in Italy two years ago; and is punctuated throughout with elements of pop, country, classical and folk.

The album was recorded by Mill Valley Studios in Belfast, and its creation was supported by musicians such as the Ulster String Quartet (Danny McCann-Williams, Sian Hetherington, Nicholas Rippon and Thomas Jackson), Amanda Agnew and Percy Robinson. It was produced by Robb Murphy and Alan Dickson and post-produced by Roger Seibel, SAE Mastering, the man behind Bon Iver, Death Cab For Cutie, Decemberists, and Volcano Choir.

Unlike many of the current crop of performers, Robb Murphy’s songs are not restricted to traditional acoustics – although as his solo performances prove, he needs little more than a guitar and his voice to make a lasting impression. His songs are comparable to such great balladeers as Damien Rice and Jose Gonzalez, with the unique ability to capture the hearts of listeners through his songwriting style.

With Sleep Tonight, Robb Murphy is set to build on the success and critical acclaim he’s already achieved and reinforce his status as a singer-songwriter.
