DUKE SPECIAL

Type : Festivals

Some 16 years ago a young talented singer/songwriter
named Peter Wilson could be found frequenting the
MADD Music training rooms at Clotworthy House. More
than a decade later, Peter, aka Duke Special, has reached
the dizzy heights of international stardom. What a delight
it is to welcome Duke Special back to Antrim.
Duke Special is an artist aptly named. Dynamic, musically
ambitious and bracingly eccentric, he has innate,
inimitable style and lush musicality. Blissfully at home in
his own alluring genre of beautifully bruised romanticism,
Duke Special inhabits a world unlike any other - a world
filled with vaudeville-esque sensibility, sing-a-longs and
addictive melodies.
Previously nominated for three Meteor Music Awards as
well as the Choice Music Prize in 2005 for Adventures
in Gramophone and again in 2006 for Songs From The
Deep Forest, Duke Special has been up to a vast array of
projects since his 2008 album, I Never Thought This Day
Would Come. Most recently, Freewheel was nominated
the second best Northern Irish song of all time at Radio
Ulster’s Great Northern Songbook. This intimate solo show
will feature songs from his new album Oh Pioneer as well
as all the old favourites.
