David C. Clements

Headlining the inaugural Magill Promotions gig is the one and only David C. Clements with his band. David is without a doubt one of the top performers Northern Ireland has to offer, described as “Northern Ireland’s Bruce Springsteen” by Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody and simply “Phenomenal” by Radio One’s Edith Bowman. He’s not just a fantastic alt folk singer but also an incredible story teller and you can find yourself getting lost in the moment as you experience his uplifting and rousing songs. Last year David found himself playing with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Of Monsters and Men, Passenger and Gary Lightbody and he is currently recording his debut album with producer Michael Keeney who has worked with Foy Vance and Duke Special. David C. Clements is on the cusp of something truly special and this could be one of those “I was there” moments to remember for a long time.

Arborist

Main support on the night comes from Belfast five piece Arborist, fronted by Mark McCambridge. Arborist’s music does something that a lot of alt folk acts try to do but fail, the music speaks to you, it feels like it penetrates your very soul. You get the feeling that Mark writes these songs from the heart, whether it’s the hopeful and honest words in ‘Incalculable Things’ or the fragile and delicate nature of their latest release ‘Border Blood’ you know that these songs are genuine and mean something to him. Critics have been lavishing praise upon Mark and the band and Culture NI’s Chris Jones has this to say, “McCambridge's voice – an earthy croon that sounds like it has been hard-earned. That voice, and the intoxicating mood conjured by all five musicians, could carry Arborist a long way.”

Ryan McMullan Music

Hailing from Portaferry, our opener on the night is rising talent Ryan McMullan. Extremely new on the scene he has impressed audiences all round the country with his capable guitar playing, smart use of loop pedals and simply stunning voice. Described as “extremely promising” by BBC Radio Ulster’s Across The Line show, Ryan has found new fans wherever he’s played and will no doubt gather many more on the night!
