THE BIG FLUTE CHALLENGE

Type : Events

This event is an official attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the 'Largest Flute Ensemble'. As it stands, the current world record is held in Japan and was achieved by 3,742 participants in 2011. Organisers are planning to exceed this target with an aim of 4000 participants.

A special composition has been commissioned specifically for the event that will be performed in order to break the record. This is available to download and its instrumentation allows all types of flautists to become involved. This is important, as participation in this event is open to everyone who plays flute, regardless of genre or style and opens our appeal to range from Classical Flute right through to Traditional Irish Flutes.

Everyone who participates in this event will have the opportunity to purchase their own Official Guinness World Record Certificate of Participation. This is undoubtedly an amazing opportunity to create history and break a World Record: Together we can make it happen!

Supported Charities
Underpinning this record attempt is the vision 'Flutes up for Charity', and encapsulates the organisers ultimate goal of raising money for three very worthwhile charities: Marie Curie Hospice Belfast, Northern Ireland Children's Hospice and Radio Cracker. Not only will participants have an opportunity to create history by breaking a world record, they will also be involved in helping these organisations continue to provide care and support for those in need.
