Type : Concerts

BBC Proms in the Park returns to the Titanic Slipways in Belfast on Saturday, 13 September 2014 – giving local audiences the opportunity to join in the music-making spectacular that is the Last Night of the Proms.

This event, which is now in its 13th year, will bring together some big name artists from home and around the world. They will be performing alongside the Ulster Orchestra in a programme which combines classical and contemporary music and a few Proms surprises.

BBC Proms in the Park remains one of BBC Northern Ireland’s most ambitious and popular outside broadcast events. And this year’s concert will be bigger than before, with more than 3000 additional tickets available for the festivities at Titanic Slipways – taking the total ticket allocation to 11,000.

Last Night of the Proms events will also take place at other locations across the UK.

BBC Proms in the Park in Northern Ireland will be hosted by Noel Thompson and Claire McCollum. Viewers at home will be able to join in the excitement via the Red Button on digital television and the concert will also be streamed online. BBC Radio Ulster will also be live on the night with presenter John Toal. A selection of highlights from the Belfast event will be carried across the BBC networks and a recording of the concert will be broadcast later in the year on BBC Northern Ireland television.

Peter Johnston, Director BBC Northern Ireland, said: "Following the success of last year we are delighted to be able bring the 2014 BBC Proms in the Park in Northern Ireland back again to Belfast and to the Titanic Slipways. This event is one of the most ambitious outside broadcasts we undertake each year, with demand for tickets always exceeding supply. BBC audiences at the event and those watching and listening at home can expect a very special evening - showcasing local and international talent and celebrating the very best in music-making.”

This event is supported by Belfast City Council. Belfast Lord Mayor, Councillor Nichola Mallon, said: "I am delighted to welcome back the BBC Proms in the Park concert to Belfast. We look forward to another stunning evening of entertainment set against the wonderful backdrop of Titanic Belfast. And I am sure that it will be another memorable occasion, showcasing Belfast as the ‘must see’ cultural and tourism destination we all know it is!"
