Having a Whale of a Time with Festival of Fools
Northern Ireland’s biggest free festival brings some quite extraordinary sights to the streets and squares of Belfast City Centre. From slapstick supremos to the most agile acrobats. From terrifying trapeze artists through to jovial jugglers, this festival has something for everyone – and then some! As well as unicycling jugglers, silent clowns and a candy floss sculptor, the Festival of Fools will be presenting a motorised singing nun, a mindblowing magician and comedy painters.

Spanish Company Capitan Maravilla kick the Festival off on the Friday evening with an acrobatic extravaganza starring two monkeys and a mini cooper!
This show will be followed by more than 130 top quality free street performances across Belfast’s City Centre and Cathedral Quarter over the Bank Holiday weekend 2-5th May. Artists from USA, Mexico, Belgium, France, Spain, Italy, Tanzania, Canada, England, Ireland, the Khash Republic and, of course, Belfast will be entertaining people using the universal language of laughter.

The Festival of Fools will also be creating a unique holiday destination in Writers Square with the installation of an urban beach complete with deck chairs, sticks of rock and a 60 foot inflatable whale!!! Artists representing the Giro d’Italia Festival will be serving up the Bicycle Bistro presented by Comedy Waiters to audiences partaking of the Festival of Foods – a unique celebration of the sensational restaurants and bars in Belfast City Centre/ Cathedral Quarter.

IT’S ALL FREE AND YOU DON’T HAVE TO BOOK IN ADVANCE!!!!
