A brand new four day Festival in the tranquil setting of the Upper Lough Erne Region in County Fermanagh that brings together musicians, artists, gourmet food and traditional craft to celebrate the life of Upper Lough Erne. Islands, stunning castles and historic sites around the Lough will be the backdrop for the entertainment as well as ancient traditions and local produce that will tell the story of a place steeped in history.

PROGRAMME

FESTIVAL OPENING
FRIDAY 2ND MAY 2014 - 7.30PM

Hosted at one of Fermanagh’s oldest Heritage sites and the inauguration place of the Maguire Chieftains, the official Islander Festival launch will feature homegrown talent, including hand drumming, storytellers, musicians and stunning views across the Islands and lough at dusk.

FOLK N’FOOD
SATURDAY 3RD MAY 2014 – 1PM to 5PM

Set in the grounds of the stunning Belle-Isle Castle this family friendly event will have plenty to keep the kids entertained while the adults enjoy the delights of some of the best food produce Northern Ireland has to offer. The Emerald Armada and Orchid Collective will be providing their rousing, energetic musical mix to the days event.

TRANNISH ISLAND CAMPFIRE SESSIONS
SATURDAY 3RD MAY 2014 – 6.00PM

Not to be missed this laid back Campfire Session at the Trannish Island Bothy with artists from across the festival will be the perfect remedy to the busy working week. Free camping is available and the some of the very best Fermanagh flavors will be on offer on the barbeque.

THE ISLAND CASTLE PRESENTS DUKE SPECIAL
SATURDAY 3RD MAY 2014 – 7.00PM

Sample some of the best of Ireland’s music and venues in one fell swoop in the beautiful setting of Belle Isle Estate’s Grand Hall and Drawing Room. Duke Special is an artist who is set to fit right in alongside the intimate yet grand setting of Belle-Isle’s Grand Hall.

JAZZ & BLUES IN THE GARDEN
SUNDAY 4TH MAY 2014 – 1PM to 5PM

Bring along a picnic and rug as you join us for a relaxing afternoon at Crom Estate and hear the soothing sounds of The McPhillimy Jazz Quartet as well as local blues artists who will be playing the open air venue by the shores of Lough Erne.

CLASSICAL IN THE CONSERVATORY
SUNDAY 4TH MAY 2014 – 7PM

Featuring the homegrown talents of the Fermanagh Choral Society and special guests, this Sunday evening event sees another of the county’s finest venues brought into play alongside the ethereal sounds of the renowned choral group who have put together a unique programme especially for Islander Festival.

LIVE ON THE LOUGH
SUNDAY 4TH MAY 2014 – 2PM

A two hour cruise exploring the lesser known and most beautiful parts of Lough Erne while listening to the magical sounds of Rónán Kearney. Also aboard will be local storytellers telling stories of the Islands, the Lough.

HOOLEY IN THE HALL
SUNDAY 4TH MAY 2014 – 7PM

Share Discovery Village hosts will host the Hooley in the Hall with a fantastic line up including Sons of Caliber, Josh Burnside, Midnight Graffiti plus more special guests to be announced.

MAY DAY AT THE MARKET
MONDAY 5TH MAY 2014 – 1PM to 5PM

May Day at the Market will see The Fair Ladies running a specialist craft fair in the historic Cornmarket yard with a few of local musicians Blurred Lines playing us out for year one of Islander Festival.
