Madison Violet

Type : Gigs

With their roots in Nova Scotia, this Toronto-based band led by Brenley MacEachern and Lisa MacIsaac emerged onto the world stage with the release of their album No Fool for Trying in 2009. The album showcased the pair’s heartfelt (and often heartbreaking) lyrics in brilliant contrast to their uplifting arrangements which pushed their graceful harmonies to the surface. They hold little back in their singing, as MacEachern's sultry rasp dovetails with MacIsaac's sweeter tones to create a kind of bluegrass-old-time sensibility with rock 'n' roll attitude that packs power as well as disarming honesty and a very personal soulful momentum. Among Canada’s brightest singer/songwriters Madison Violet have the unique distinction of being the only Canadians to win The John Lennon Songwriting Contest. They have sold out venues across North America and Europe having toured with Stuart McLean’s Vinyl Cafe, and shared stages with contemporaries such as Chantal Kreviazuk, Ron Sexsmith and The Indigo Girls.
