Old friends, Dan Haynes and Pete Richards perform the UK’s finest tribute to the music of American folk duo Simon and Garfunkel. Their friendship goes back to the early days of secondary school where by chance, their paths crossed through an integration exercise. In trying to find common ground they discovered a shared interest in music. This interest would lead them to begin singing together, originally for personal enjoyment and now for audiences across the UK.

Having sung alongside each other for many years, their voices have become finely tuned, blending together perfectly in harmony to create a magnificent recreation of the sound of Simon and Garfunkel. They began playing together in college, learning various covers of their favourite artists. Then, with a mutual passion for the music of Paul Simon and a natural gift for singing close harmonies, they began to learn the songs of Simon and Garfunkel, paying particular attention to the perfect harmony, timing and diction of the original and live recordings. Encouraged by friends and family, the pair began to perform to wider audiences, originally naming themselves 'The Sounds of Silence'.

They continued to perform together under this name until 2008 when, at this point their lives took different courses. Pete wanting to pursue further his interest in the natural world moved away to university while Dan, who’d by this point written a solo album of his own began performing as a solo artist (www.danhaynesmusic.co.uk). The Sounds Of Silence became a thing of the past, as very nearly did their friendship.

It was then in 2011 after meeting up to see Paul Simon live in concert that Dan and Pete decided once again to begin singing the songs of Simon and Garfunkel. Wanting to break away from their past as ‘The Sounds Of Silence’ they renamed themselves ‘Bookends’ and set about writing a new show called ‘Simon and Garfunkel – Through The Years’, a show that would celebrate the music and career of Simon and Garfunkel. Dan and Pete are currently performing this show all over the UK, a show that many are calling “A Must See”.
