Jesus Christ Superstar

One of the most powerful, best loved and controversial musicals of all time, ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ began life as a ground-breaking rock album, with lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber.



Based on the Gospels and telling the story of the last week of Jesus’ life up to his crucifixion, the album was released in October 1970, with stage productions following in 1971 on Broadway and in London’s West End in 1972. The recent ITV search for a Superstar and subsequent UK Arena Tour has revived interest in this masterpiece.
