The Mary Ryan Blues Trio
A highly entertaining evening of ‘old time’ songs from this exciting blues trio who are rapidly building a fan base around the country with their gloriously earthy mix of Delta Blues, Ragtime, Gospel, Jazz, and comic Vaudeville.
Mary Ryan is a gifted interpreter of theatrical song who is equally at home with the classic blues of Bessie Smith and Ragtime ballads of Blind Willie McTell. Roots Blues singer Mark Braidner plays Blues guitar like he’s walked straight out of the Mississippi Delta. His mastery of styles ranges from Hokum to finger picking and exquisite slide guitar. Belfast pianist Simon Templeton has a unique Ragtime style, with influences including Scott Joplin and Tom Waits.
This talented trio have just released their much anticipated debut album which includes songs of the freight-train hopping singers who travelled from Beale Street to New Orleans - Mississippi John Hurt, Memphis Minnie, Louis Armstrong, Lil Green, Big Bill Broonzy and Blind Willie Johnson.
