“Pádraig Sylvain and Dónal first started working together in 2010 and their first ever gig was here at An Droichead. Since
then the trio have gone on to play some breathtaking venues and festivals right across Europe. They are three of the
biggest names in Irish music and to have three of them work and perform together gives audiences a unique opertunity to
hear what their combined ideas create. We are delighted to have them back with us to launch their album TRIAD.
Pádraig Rynne on concertina is one of the most popular musicians in the Irish music scene and is well known for his
experimental approach to music and involvement in many different genres of music. He is a founding member of bands
such as Guidewires and Cian as well as working with some very well known international acts and artists. His name can be
found on many well known albums as a composer and a guest musician.
Sylvain Barou, from Brittany is considered as one of the best flute players of his generation. Playing mainly Irish and Breton
traditional music, Sylvain has been part of some of the most exciting projects of the genre and played with the foremost
bands and musicians such as Guidewires, Gilles Le Bigot, Liz Carroll and Paddy Glackin.
What can one say about Dónal Lunny that has not already been said? He has been credited as shaping Irish music into
what we know it as today. He has created ground breaking bands throughout the last fifty years such as Planxty, The Bothy
Band, Moving Hearts and Coolfin. He has had an influence on almost every Irish musician that plays.
His compositions are some of the most popular in modern world music and he has produced albums for some of the
biggest names in Rock, Pop and World music from all over the globe”.
