Her next step was to open her own school. “The Pat Henderson Academy of Irish Dancing” based in Derry. Her main aim was to further the Irish culture through Irish Dancing taught in Derry and the surrounding areas. Her pupils competed in Feiseanna all over Ireland, and were very successful in major competitions. Throughout the years her school was invited to appear on various Irish, and British television programmes, e.g, “The Harry Secombe Show”. They also appeared in various charity events and Pantomime locally. Pat also choreographed shows, and pantomime along with her teaching of Irish Dancing. Pat’s still teaching and adjudicating to the present day, teaching non-competitive dancing in the Millennium Forum. Her love of Irish Dancing remains the same and is still as passionate as ever about Irish Dancing! Pat has offered her services during the City of Culture year 2013 to teach Ceili Dancing to both sides of the community for Children who have not had the opportunity of learning Ceili Dancing before. The dancing Lessons are free. The programme will bring together both sides of the community in a Cultural development through the medium of Irish Dance.
