This concert brings an evening in the company of one of the most exciting rising musicians around – Venezuelan trumpeter Pacho Flores. Francisco “Pacho” Flores, Principal Trumpet of the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra and founding member of the Simón Bolívar Brass Quintet, has been achieving worldwide recognition as a soloist, captivating audiences with his energy and the bell-like beauty of his tone. His playing integrates jazz and Latin American influences with his classical training and he has been an exclusive Deutsche Grammophon recording artist since 2012, with his recordings for the label displaying this eclectic blend of styles. Alongside the Argentinian flair of Piazzolla, Pacho performs the world première of a trumpet concerto by regular collaborator, fellow-Venezuelan and fellow-trumpet player, Giancarlo Castro.

The concert concludes with Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra; considered one of Bartók’s finest works and a splendid showpiece for both solo wind and percussion players, as well as for the orchestra as a whole.

Free pre-concert talk at 7pm with Music Director Rafael Payare and soloist Pacho Flores. All welcome.
