Different Strokes Exhibition

Helena Leeper has a great talent for painting fine art onto glass, ceramics canvas and slate. Helena has organised and run the workshops for the Sandwich Festival of Lights, working with local schools and organisations to create stunning displays that are paraded around the town. For this exhibition, Helena, has produced a series of compositions inspired by William Morris and Victorian fireplaces. She is also displaying some of her recent paintings on slate and canvas.

Julia Baxter studied Graphic Design prior to undertaking classes in Calligraphy. Julia received an Intermediate Diploma from the Calligraphy and Lettering Arts Society, London. Her art works are a visual expression of an interaction between the freedom of fine art and the discipline of a craft. The images involve letters, words and text with colour and imagery using her calligraphic skills in a variety of mediums including watercolours, gouaches, gold leaf and oils onto canvass, paper, cloth and stone.

Bob Martin worked at Sandwich Technology School, where he began as Head of Art before developing his role with Community Arts and Events, as well as teaching art and animation. His work reflects his passion for the Post Impressionists, in particularly the Camden Town Group. He paints with a limited palette of only three hues and white to achieve his distinctive images. A great deal of his work is concerned with landscapes and the observed world. Bob originally trained as a silver smith, engraving into metal and wood in traditional medieval styles.

Stefanie Taylor, photographer and digital artist, her work combines photographs with other digital mediums to create images that give us a unique snapshot of a specific subject. A look at History and fine art joined together.

Phil O’Connor has returned. After his first successful show of Landscapes in 2008 at the Patrician Hall in Carrickmore. Phil has now decided to show his new collection of works in Strule Arts Centre. He returns with an even more detailed look at wildlife.
