Celebrated musicians Rod Patterson and Barry Johnston come together to perform the music of Texan Troubadours, Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, Willy Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Steve Earle, John Prine and more.
This musical trip through Nashville history first debuted at the Duke Of York as part of Belfast Culture Ireland Night in 2016. A sold out gig in The Black Box, Belfast as one of the highlights of the Belfast Out to Lunch Festival and an appearance as musical support to BBC Radio Ulster Country Ralph McLean’s Outlaw Country presentation at the Belfast Nashville Festival followed.
This is Outlaw Country at it best with the music of a host of country greats brought to life in a celebration of songwriting genius and great musicianship. Among the songs you can expect to hear are LA Freeway, Hello In There, Desperados Waiting On A Train, Copperhead Road and many more…
Barry Johnston – Acoustic Guitar – Front man with ‘Illegal Smile’. Barry has been playing on the music scene in Ireland for many years. He has also specialised in Americana and produced many John Prine tribute shows.
Rod Patterson – Double Bass. Rod has worked as a professional musician in a diverse range of musical situations. His work as a musical director includes 7 years in UTV’s ‘Kelly Show’ and recent sessions include ‘The Priest’s At Christmas’ from Parliament Buildings, Stormont. He has toured with Freddie White and Mary Coughlan.
Ivan Gilliland – Guitar and Mandolin. Ivan has worked with such luminaries as Van Morrison, James Galway, Sinead O’Connor, Phil Coulter and Christina Auguilera to name a few. He is world class musician and brings a subtle support guaranteed to please the ear in the wonderful songs.
