Fault Bound Bodies is an interspecies time space love story set across various real and imagined sites of geothermal industry and volcanic activity.
Focusing on the physical manifestation of the earth’s internal heat and employing narratives of love, motivation and popular song, the exhibition navigates these material and emotional energies through video, 3D animation and sound installation.
The story evolves from the perspective of a geothermal site which awakes in a future moment to find that it has been ‘set to work’ for the generation of geothermal energy.
Stranded on a ridge berthed between two crusts, the site longs for a now extinct volcano estranged by the movements of tectonic plates.
Throughout the work this site performs the role of a single but collective voice, revealing the experiences of fellow mutants of heat in the face of heated forces and security-seeking crust dwellers that shape their destiny.
