BLINKERED

“Do you ever feel alone, like really alone, like nobody gets you?”

Ryan's life seems ok. He has a family that care about him. He is a great musician. He has good friends. But there is a darkness, a heaviness that just wont go away. Everything is too much effort.

Sole Purpose Productions brings you Blinkered - a play exploring issues around depression and suicide in young people and bringing into focus the dynamics of a family struggling with loss. A tour of Blinkered in the North West in early 2016 made a huge impact on all who saw it. The play was developed in association with Ulster University School of Psychology, Youthlife and AWARE NI.

This production is supported by the Arts Council of Ireland North South Touring Scheme and ESB Energy for Generations. The Samaritans will be present at each performance for anyone who would like information about their services and to provide a listening ear if required.

Sole Purpose Productions is a professional theatre company based in Derry, founded in 1997. It has toured work extensively throughout Ireland and the UK, and has had work produced in New York and San Francisco.

Matinee performances will be followed by an interactive theatre workshop which will explore issues raised in the play. This is a powerful way to explore difficult questions.
