Tavaziva: Weekend Dance Workshop

Type : Theatre

Theatre at The Mill present this unique opportunity to work with distinguished Choreographer and Director Bawren Tavaziva and one of the Company’s dancers to create a new piece of work based on Tavaziva’s critically acclaimed production Africarmen.

Born in Zimbabwe, Tavaziva’s highly inventive choreography is a synthesis of ballet, contemporary and African dance and is energetic, intricate, physically challenging and highly enjoyable.

Over this two day residency, participants will delve in to the world of ‘Africarmen’ by learning repertoire from the production and will use this to develop their own dance skills, sharing the material created, gaining performance skills and building confidence. This workshop is suitable for dancers of all abilities as well as dance students who are creating their own work. Participants will be invited to perform the work at the opening of Tavaziva’s performance of Africarmen at the Theatre at The Mill on Thursday 2 March 2017.

Workshop: Saturday 29 – Sunday 30 October: 10am – 5pm. Sunday evening includes private showing of the work created to invited family and friends.

Participants must be aged 12 years upwards. Dance qualifications are not required to do the workshop.
