Welcome to the second edition of Tempered, Belfast’s very own contemporary music week. Meshing local and international talent, Tempered brings the very best New Music on offer, to your doorstep.
Combining Thomas Strønen’s skills as a composer and percussionist, Time Is a Blind Guide perform music from their recent self-titled debut release on ECM.
An all-acoustic Anglo-Norwegian group, they play what Strønen describes as ‘melodic music with a twist’ where ‘the notion of ‘time’ is a key theme.’ The result is a melodically, wholesome sound, almost folky in atmosphere, that sits alongside a dense rhythmic complexity providing a balance of darkness.
Originally commissioned by Radio 3 presenter Fiona Talkington, as part of her Conexions series, who has long been a supporter of both Strønen’s work and also the wider Norwegian music scene, we are delighted to present Time Is A Blind Guide as part of this year’s Tempered.
