TEMPERED: HARD RAIN

The Hard Rain Soloist Ensemble is a contemporary/modern music group from Belfast devoted to the performance of this important repertoire. The support of local composers is a central remit of the group and it programmes their work alongside the key works of the world's most established composers. HRSE is active in attracting new works and commissioning music from some of Ireland's leading and most interesting composers. The ensemble supports the work of young composers too, through its association with Queen's University and in its newly inaugurated Peter Rosser Composition Award. It is also conscious of a need to provide opportunities for talented young performers, which it does through its work with the Ulster Youth Orchestra mentoring scheme. The ensemble has been rapidly growing in reputation over it's short three years of existence, proving there is a healthy audience in Belfast for challenging new music.
