QUB's Sonorities Festival has long since been an annual staple for contemporary music enthusiasts in Belfast and beyond. This year HRSE are excited not only to be featured, but to be performing a special programme of music curated by composer Piers Hellawell.

In a joint initiative between Sonorities and HRSE, we offer a selection of repertoire reflecting some of the musical associations and friendships important to Hellawell in his more than 30-year tenure at QUB: Piers Hellawell says of the curated programme that:

‘it disdains questions of stylistic fashion in favour of celebrating the diversity of good work that goes on all over the place. The intensity of Poul Ruders (Denmark) or Daniel Moser (Austria) is just as individual as, but no more correct than, the hard-core energy of Perry Goldstein (USA) and Kevin Volans (SA), or the virtuosic parody techniques of English composers Camden Reeves and Joanna Lee. There should be something here for anyone with open ears.’

The Hard Rain SoloistEnsemble is a contemporary music group from Belfast devoted to the performance of modern and contemporary music. To discover more about HRSE visit www.hardrainensemble.com or keep up to date with the latest news from HRSE by signing up to their mailing list by clicking here
