Type : Gigs

On Saturday 18th June 2016, the Oh Yeah Centre plays host to John Lindsay and his band as they play songs from John's new album, What's Not to Love? John is an experienced singer-songwriter based in Carrickfergus who plays an amazing blend of country and contemporary folk that draws comparison to artists such as Paul Brady and Van Morrison.
The John Lindsay Band will be joined on the night by special guest vocalist, Siobhan Pettit who has received much acclaim over the years for her work with her own jazz quartet, numerous ensembles, and session work.
John Lindsay's album, What's Not to Love? is out now and available on iTunes and CD Baby.

"The first inkling I had of John the songwriter, was a rendition of Across the World, over fifteen years ago. We were sitting in Donegal by the barbeque with his guitar and the sounds of the Atlantic as his accompaniment. Over the years I discovered many more of his songs and I am proud to be a part of encouraging him to record them. What I enjoy about John’s writing is you can take your own story from them, relate them to your life without changing his intent. He sings them as himself always, which makes a welcome change from the copycat voices we are surrounded with.
He writes from a personal aspect and has a unique stand point with influences that include the love of his family, to his experience during a time of huge change in Northern Ireland."
- Niamh Kavanagh, Winner of Eurovision 1993

"Anyone who listens to John's music will easily recognise the simple good humoured honesty with which he both writes his songs and delivers them. There is never an artificial moment in his musical world. That is not to say the songs are overly simple or artless; they are in fact skillfully crafted and often original in their use of structure and phrasing but this is achieved through his natural writing ability, and never through adherence to any learned formula."
- Brian Connor, pianist and music director
