Separate Beds

Type : Theatre

Judy Marshall is approaching the biggest day of her life with her wedding to Alan Rea fast approaching. Judy’s actress mother, currently separated from her father Arthur, is planning to return to the family home for the nuptials. Alan’s mother is a rather straight-laced North Antrim woman who steadfastly believes that marriage is “till death us do part!” Can they keep the separation secret? This production is part of our Summer Theatre Season.

With Ivy, the maid, who has a fondness of Arthur’s Brandy; an interior decorator, Andy Crawford, who has already spent three weeks re-painting the bedroom while awaiting the arrival of his eighth off-spring; an amorous neighbour, Madge Wirsall who has her eye on Arthur and a retired vicar who is standing in for the local minister and gets very confused with the facts and you have the pot-pouri of characters to make for a hilarious evening’s entertainment from the pen of Ulster’s favourite playwright, Sam Cree.

Belvoir players are the undoubted masters of the Sam Cree comedies having staged all 15 full-length masterpieces over the last 40 years. First class family entertainment is guaranteed from this first class theatre company who excel in comedy. New generations of audiences are getting the opportunity to enjoy Sam Cree’s brilliant fun-filled stories mirroring the Ulster people at their best and that are proving still as popular as when first written over half a century ago.
