‘The Rebel Crown’ is a poetic history of the extraordinary turbulent life of Red Hugh O’Neill Earl of Tyrone. It is a candid look at a man full of contradictions. Was he a saint or a sinner?

‘The Rebel Crown’, written and performed by award winning actor and writer Owen O’Neill, will take an irreverent look at what might have been. One thing is certain. Red Hugh was one of Ireland’s greatest warrior chieftains, a master tactician on the
field of battle, undone in the end by treachery. ‘The Rebel Crown’ will commemorate the 400th anniversary of his death in Rome in 1616 aged 66. This event takes place in our Studio Theatre with an unreserved, tiered seating layout.
