2017 NI Science Festival

Returning for its third year, the 2017 NI Science Festival is set to be the biggest yet, as they once again explore the "science of you, the universe and everything in between".

With over 100 events across 25+ venues, the NI Science Festival offers a stimulating and wide range of events focusing on the wonders of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

These events present some of the best scientists from NI and beyond to discuss their work, cutting-edge research and what the future might hold.

Between Thursday 16 and Sunday 26 February 2017, the Festival will bring an eclectic band of highly esteemed scientists to Belfast, including Marcus du Sautoy, Professor Alice Roberts and Britain's first ever astronaut, Helen Sharman.

During the day, the Festival offers a range of workshops, talks and interactive activities for young people, parents and schools. And the evenings present an eclectic mix of scientific debate, talks, theatres, comedy, music and film for adults.

As part of Tourism NI's Year of Food & Drink the 2017 Festival will explore the science behind food and drink with family friendly events such as Flavoursense, an exciting new interactive event that takes your taste buds on a roller-coaster ride through the senses.

For older audiences, the festival will travel up to Derry/Londonderry for a fascinating beer walk with the people behind Sippy Fest. While in Belfast, the Royal Society goes to Brewbot explore whether a machine can brew its own beer with the IntelligentX Brewing Co.

And to top it off, the best of the Festival will be hitting the road with the NI Science Festival Roadshow visiting Dungannon, Enniskillen, Newry, Coleraine and Derry/Londonderry.

The NI Science Festival runs from 16 - 26 February, 2017. The full programme is to be announced in January and will be found at nisciencefestival.com.
