Sunflowers Blooming...

With more than 150 acts across six stages, the 7th annual Sunflower Festival is without doubt its biggest to date and a sure sign of it success.

Still based at it home on Tubby's Farm in Hillsborough, less than 20 minutes from Belfast, the festival runs from 05-07 August and features not just live music but DJs, comedy, poetry and theatre.

Among the Sunflowerfest headline acts are The Strypes, who will be headlining the main stage as part of their European tour to promote their 2015 Irish chart-topping album Little Victories.

Sunflowerfest crowd favourite King Kong Company will make a welcome return in 2016. The Waterford band is due to release their debut album this summer and excitement is already in the festival air for their notoriously rowdy show.

"King Kong Company always brings the house down when they appear at Sunflowerfest. I'm especially pleased that they connected with Dreadzone last year at the festival to work on a few tunes." said festival organiser Michael Magowan. "We are delighted to welcome them back and promise that The Strypes will find them a hell of an act to follow!"

Dublin-based electronic band Le Galaxie will also be staking claim to the main stage and have spent the past five years claiming their title as Ireland's best live act. They finished 2015 with a sold out Irish tour, culminating in their biggest headline show yet a 5000 person sell out show on Stephen's Green for New Year's Eve. Their most recent album, Le Club earned them a 2016 Choice Music Prize nomination for Album of the Year.

Back by popular demand are CoCo and the Butterfields with an energetic, foot-stomping headline performance. From 5 buskers on the streets to concert halls to headlining Rome's largest unsigned music festival, CoCo and the Butterfields' fresh sound and raw energy on stage has rapidly gained them a large and loyal following, making them a top band to watch out for.

Other notable acts include The Emerald Armada, Interskalactic, The Pocket Billiards, Trucker Diablo, Jealous of the Birds, The Late Twos, R51, Sex Trade Union and Ursala Burns to name but a few...
