More Announced For Output Belfast

More speakers have been announced for Output Belfast, a major conference being held in Belfast next month aimed at inspiring those working in the music industry in Northern Ireland.

Renowned engineer, musician and producer Steve Albini – who has worked with the likes of Nirvana, The Pixies, The Manic Street Preachers, The Stooges and dozens of others – will be the keynote speaker at the Belfast City Council's organised conference, which takes place at The MAC on Thursday 18 February.

'Output Belfast' will be Albini's only speaking engagement in Europe in 2016, thus offering a unique opportunity for a Belfast audience to gain firsthand insights from one of the most acclaimed and respected figures in the music business.

Other panels, sessions and workshops include:
• A session on music composition and placement in the iconic BBC television show 'Peaky Blinders', featuring composer Paul Hartnoll, formerly one half of legendary electronic act Orbital, and music supervisor Amelia Hartley;
• A 'music for gaming' session with legendary composer Nathan McCree, whose work includes the 'Lara Croft Tomb Raider' soundtracks, presented by the director of 'Beep', the first documentary charting the history of music in games;
• A co-writing panel with BBC 6 Music-endorsed artist Nadine Shah, legendary music publishers Notting Hill Music and Gary Clark, co-writer for McFly, Mark Owen, Mel C, Delta Goodrum, The Wanted and many more.

Also at the conference will be a direct-to-fan Q and A with the artist Bry; a session on jazz music artist development by Mobo-nominated artist David Lyttle; representatives from many of the national music stakeholder organizations including PRS for Music, PPL, Featured Artist Coalition (F.A.C), CMU, Help Musicians, IMRO, BMI, SESAC and MCPS.

There also will be content from bloggers such as Nialler 9 and author Wyndham Wallace ('Lee, Myself And I - Inside The Very Special World Of Lee Hazlewood'); a series of Abelton live workshops presented in association with AVA Festival (who will also be running an event on boutique festival creation introduced by the chairman of A.I.F, the Association of Independent Festivals); sessions by music supervisors on music placement in television; and a session on PR and media opportunities in rock and metal. More panels will be announced soon.
 
Organised by Belfast City Council in partnership Generator NI, the conference will include panel discussions, music sessions, workshops and speed networking events as well as keynote speeches from award-winning musicians and managers of globally recognized talent.

At night, the emphasis will switch to live music, with a series of free pop-up gigs at venues across the city centre. Details of the music programme will be announced at the end of this month.
