A.V.A is a one day-&-night grassroots Audio Visual Arts festival and free daytime Conference on Saturday 30 May that celebrates, amplifies and develops the strong current of electronic music and digital visual arts that is emerging from Northern Ireland.
AVA Festival will host top talent in Electronic Music, Film and Digital Visual Art; ranging from the home-grown global duo ‘Bicep’ to the LA Hip-Hop Producer, DJ and Film Scorer ‘DJ Nu-Mark’ of Jurassic 5, to the Chemical Brothers AV Director Adam Smith (also director of Skins, Dr. Who and The Streets Music Videos), to the Berlin Based music software and hardware market leaders Ableton, to the debut in Northern Ireland of the underground music broadcaster ‘Boiler Room’. This is an event not to be missed.
The goal is to provide an opportunity for emerging and established artists, labels, designers, music video film makers, animators, promoters and some very special guests, to share their knowledge through a free daytime conference (11.00-16.00) which is open to all ages, that progresses into the ticketed AVA evening showcase (16.00-Late), with home-grown headliners Bicep, Ejeca, Optimo, SDC and Phil Kieran paying homage to Northern Ireland’s unique energy and character.
Ableton, shall present their ‘Ableton Push Playground’, showcasing their new hardware and software with a specialised trainer, along with a number of other free workshops and talks (Conference). AVA will also host a Street Food Market – debuting Howard Street Food and a number of other stalls and a Vinyl Record Fair for the keen crate digger. Speaking on the festival, Bicep have said: “When Sarah (Up Productions) brought the concept to us back in April 2014, we knew it was something that had to happen. Having played at festivals around the world, we wanted to support the development of a strong electronic festival in Belfast. Getting all the talent together and back in the city and in one incredible warehouse space down at the docks, with a supporting conference is going to be pretty special.” (Bicep).
