Despite being a childhood breakdancer and allegedly spending my youth involved in the honourable task of graffiti, I was and have remained a punk kid, picking out the small bits of hip-hop I wanted and roundly ignoring the rest.
All that braggadocio just wasn't for me. But, as is always the way, your own ignorance of what is happening in a scene means that you are inevitably missing the best of what it has to offer.
Thankfully, others paid closer attention, applied themselves and have done all the heavy lifting so we get to enjoy 'the best of what is has to offer'.
