Bee Mick See - The Belfast Yank

Bee Mick See has announced his new album, the Belfast Yank, coming on 16 March.

What do you do when your parents move you from the hipster mecca that is Portland, Oregon to the urban jungle that is post ceasefire Belfast? If you’re Brendan Seamus, stage name Bee Mick See, you spend the next 10 years trying to forge a career as an eccentric rapper.

The Belfast Yank is not only an album that describes the impact of fitting into an unfamiliar society, but also one that merges American and Irish culture in a way that has never been done before. It offers up tales of strained relationships, triumphs over adversity and overcoming the effects of bullying.

You may be happy to hear that the stereotypical rap themes of misogyny and over excessiveness are absent in The Belfast Yank. Instead you will be enlightened with the perils of wearing deodorant, a musical explanation of Belfast colloquialisms and an interesting take on “loving” music.

The album was recorded under the supervision of mega producer Rocky O’Reilly (Oppenheimer, General Fiasco) in Belfast’s Start Together Studios. The Belfast Yank features additional production from Rory Friers (And So I Watch You From Afar), raps from nerd-core heavyweights MC Lars + Tribe One (Malibu Shark Attack!) and the soulful charm of Ciara Donnelly from RTE’s the Voice (Season 3).

The Belfast Yank is available digitally on the 16th March 2015. There will be a live celebration in support of the release in The Bar With No Name (Belfast) featuring Lethal Dialect (Dublin Rapper), Goldie Fawn and Freaks, with a Pocket Billiards DJ set.
