The Crickets Are Calling...

My love for Canadian rapscallions what plays the finest old timey music and aren't afraid to yodel, Petunia and the Vipers, is well known and they're two previous Belfast shows have been some of the finest I've seen. Well, Petunia is coming back, this time sans-Vipers, bringing with him one Nathan Godfrey, who the press release tells me is recognised as one of Canada’s leading old-time performers.

Ranging from the most delicate to the most powerful, Petunia's voice is astonishing – full of character and authenticity. His performances have been mesmerising and I don't doubt that this one will be to.
The press release tells us we can expect "echoes of Hank Williams, Lefty Frizell, Jimme Rodgers and Riley Puckett as well as originals, which will be familiar to fans of The Vipers’ shows."

Petunia & Nathan Godfrey play the Duncairn Arts Centre, Belfast, on 29 November with support from Ciaran Lavery and Band. For more go to movingonmusic.co.uk.
