To Read By The Sea

Did you know there has been a literary festival in Bangor for the last 22 years? I am quite ashamed, and not solely because of my job, to say that I didn't. But 2014 marks the 23rd year of Aspects Irish Literature Festival.

Running from 25 – 28 September in various venues around the seaside town of Bangor, Co Down the organisers of this years event have said that their focus was on "creating a programme which would be truly inclusive, offering something for everyone and enticing the uninitiated to join us."

It is a packed programme - one which unfortunately, I think, sees event happening on week day afternoons when I and most others are stuck in work - so picking a highlight would be difficult.

Personally I will be doing my best to see the Bill Kirk exhibition (Sync Space, Friday 26 Sept, free) and both Nathaniel McAuley and Michael Smiley on Saturday 27). I would have loved to get to 'A-Z: An Experiment in Typography' but it is at 16:00 on Thursday 25, oh well...
