The Demon Dog Returns

No Alibis Bookstore on Belfast's Botanic Avenue is a revelation. Really, who would have imagined that not just an independent bookstore, but one that specialises in crime, would not just survive but flourish.

One of the things that marks out No Alibis is the special events that they regularly hold, an impressive list of which is to be found on their website (see below).

Speaking of which, they recently announced one event in particular we feel compelled to share, so you to can hopefully secure tickets before they disappear – the return of the demon dog, Mr James Ellroy.

On 07 November, No Alibis host an evening with Mr Ellroy, to celebrate the launch of his latest novel Perfidia.

A master of noir crime fiction, James Ellroy has up close and personal knowledge of the world of crime. His life has been shadowed by a gruesome event: the unsolved murder of his mother when he was a child. In 1958, Geneva Hilliker Ellroy's body was dumped on a roadway in El Monte, California, a seedy L.A. exurb. Her killer was never apprehended. Her murder unleashed a force that has propelled Ellroy's work. Ellroy channelled his anguish and transformed himself into an outsized public persona: an audacious, uncompromising, and unapologetic chronicler of humanity's dark side.

A venue for the event has yet to be announced but tickets are free.

All you need do is email david@noalibis.com and "express your interest".
